Chapel Hill/UNC Parking

Parking in Chapel Hill and at UNC is limited, therefore we recommend using public transportation to arrive on-campus if possible.

On Campus parking generally requires UNC parking permits, however some lots and spaces are available to visitors, especially on weekends. We highly recommend reading signage to avoid parking illegally, if you park on campus. The closest visitor lot to Chapman Hall, which is open to visitors on weekends, is the 50 space Swain Lot at 113 E Cameron Avenue. To walk to Chapman from the Swain Lot, cross Cameron and you will face Phillips Hall. Chapman Hall is the building behind Phillips.

Also available and nearby is the Nash Parking Lot:  2 blocks further west on Cameron Avenue past the Carolina Inn, take a left Wilson Street and another left into the Nash Lot. This lot is available to visitors free of charge on weekends, unless signage states otherwise. From Nash, walk through the Carolina Inn and past Sitterson/Brooks Hall and Phillips Hall will be in front of you. Chapman Hall will be on your right, past Phillips.

Parking in the town of Chapel Hill is primarily paid parking between the hours of 8am-5pm. Parking lot and street parking are typically free in the evening (for times when various lots are free, see the previous link). The closest Chapel Hill public parking is available at the Rosemary/Columbia Lotthe Wallace Parking Deck, and the CVS Plaza Parking Deck. The lot is $1.50/hr, while the two parking decks are $1/hr (though CVS adds $2 to your final parking total if you park the entire time between 10am-2pm).

Other paid parking is also available on UNC's campus, including the Morehead Lot. On-campus parking is $1.50/hr.
